Music has been a really important part of my life. I wish I could have studied in a music school, but I wasn't given the chance. Anyway, I was so interested in music, that at the age of 13 I began learning how to play the guitar by myself. -And there was no YouTube by that time!- One or two years later, I got into the bass guitar, at home as well. And one or two years later, the same with the drums.

I gave my first concert in 1998, at the age of 17. It was an acoustic show, with my brother Germán and our friend Josete. In 2001 I joined my first band, and I did it on drums. Since then, I have played in many different bands and done a good number of collaborations with some others. I'll tell you about them all in these pages.

From 2008 to 2010 I went to an audio-visual training school and got my Diploma as a Superior Sound Technician. Since then, I worked as such for the following two years -mainly sounding live concerts- and I recorded the album Never Too Late by NOUS.

I have created three subpages to talk about "my bands". There are NOUS and NO ALOHA, my two main bands, and then another subpage titled More, that you may guess what it's about. So I'm gonna talk about the Sound Technician stuff right below.

SOUND TECHNICIAN

Well, actually there is not much to say. I recorded the album "Never Too Late" by NOUS in a kind of handcrafted and patiently way, using my computer with Pro Tools LE, an Mbox2 interface and a few good microphones, basically Rode NT1, AKG B112, Shure SM57 and SM58. I recorded some parts at home and some others in Marcos' garage, which is our rehearsal room. Afterwards, I made the mix and then the mastering. Here you go the first track of the album.

The album got very good reviews from the music press, both national and international. But this kind of music is not very commertial, so I guess we'll be underground for... ever.

By the way, I am currently looking for a job, so... if you need a Sound Technician, or a Sound Technician Assistant, or a Sound Technician Assistant's Assistant, you can count on me.

Thank you!

But my first recording was nothing to do like that. It was even more punk. It was back in 2004, we had a basic mixer, an old computer, some cheap microphones, instruments and software, and I had no idea about recording nor editing. So I put the mics over the drumset, plugged them into the mixer and connected the mixer to the computer. The bass and guitar were plugged directly into the mixer as well. Then I started recording, every track at once. No cuts, no editing, no postproduction. It was totally raw. And that was my first recording experience. I think it sounds awful, but I like it!

Throughout the years, I learned a lot by watching others recording our music. But I learned even more when I got my certificate as a Superior Sound Technician and began trying to do things in a better way. This recording is what came afterwards, in 2009/2010. Recorded in the company of Alberto Pereira, a class mate, we used a Motu Traveler interface, his laptop and Logic software. But, not happy with the drum tracks, we recorded them again at Bola 8 Studio. Then I imported the tracks into my Pro Tools, mixed and mastered on my own. This was a really good training!

There are some other recordings where I took part of, but not as the main sound technician. Maybe Record Co-Producer is the proper way to call it, but it may have nothing to do with the matter we are talking about here anyway. So, by the moment, that's it! I hope I can add more recordings on my CV soon. See you!
