INTRO

No Aloha is the 4th song of the album "Last Splash" of the band The Breeders. // Aloha in the Hawaiian language means affection, peace, compassion and mercy. Since the middle of the 19th century, it also has come to be used as an English greeting to say goodbye and hello. Currently, it is mostly used in the sense of "hello". [Wikipedia] // No Aloha is against all the commercial side of Hawaii, and the kind of tourism showing what is not real.

On Friday 14th October 2005, I was introduced to Eva and Gus, bass/singer and guitar of a band called NO ALOHA. I may had seen them live before, or maybe it was that very night at that Art Jam Festival. But I liked the band. And soon I became a big fan of them. They used to do some indie rock music, very nice short and catchy songs. We shared stage a few times during the following years.

In 2007, Jorge and Carlos -guitarist and drummer- left the band. And, as Gus and Eva had seen me performing on drums with my old band VEIN, they got in contact with me to replace the drummer and did the same with Jose (coming from the band MURDO) to replace the guitar player.

During a few months No Aloha were Eva, Gus, Jose and I. We recorded the EP "Drowning the Fish", but a few months later, Jose left the band and was replaced by Junior. After a few months, maybe in 2008, he left the band as well. So we decided to give it a try as a trio... and speed up!

BIO

No Aloha was formed in 2004 in South Madrid, Spain, by Eva on bass and vocals, Gustavo on guitar, Jorge on second guitar and Carlos on drums. In 2005 they released their first EP, "Have We Ever Met Before?", winning several rock contests like Villa de Madrid, Festimad or Sonorama. One of their songs is included in the soundtrack of the short film "Días felices de azul" by Teresa de Andrés. In 2006, they released their second EP, "Be Here Anyway", winning a music contest by Radio Utopía and becoming finalists of another rock contest by Coca-Cola.

One year later, after a few changes of members, the band was consolidated as a trio with Chano on drums, joining the founder members of the band, Eva López and Gustavo Romero, bass/vocals and guitar respectively.

With their third EP, "Drowning the Fish", they won the contest Pop Rock de Rivas and became finalists in the Lagarto Rock. A few songs were included in compilations like Come on Lucinda (Lucinda Records, Spain), Filthy Little Angels (UK), Pistol Digital (USA) and a compilation of the Joe Strummer charity foundation, Strummerville (Artrocker and Emubands, UK)

Their music has been played in radio stations like Radio 3, Cadena Ser, as well as in independent radio stations both in Spain and abroad -Mexico and Germany-. And their music videos have been broadcasted by Sol Música, Fly Music and MTV.

After having played all over the country -Madrid, Bilbao, Barcelona, Zarautz, Santander, Guadalajara, etc.- in 2008 they flew over the ocean to play in New York, USA. In 2010 they released their first album, "The Skinny" (Lucinda Records / Subterfuge). And in 2011 they went to play in Germany, invited again by ALUMINUM BABE. Among other bands, they had the pleasure to share stage with Alice in Chains, Sex Museum, Hamlet, The Unfinished Simpathy, El Columpio Asesino and Skizoo.
